James Elwell’s Bio

E-mail Clasroom Page

James grew up spending summers in Cottage Grove and taking fishing trips to Winchester Bay. He earned a master's degree in Education from the University of Oregon in 2006. He began working for The Lighthouse School in 2007 as the second grade teacher. After six wonderful years with emerging readers, James took the fourth grade teaching position. In his first year with the fourth grade, the class won a naming contest for Bay Area hospital's new surgical robot "Surgio." In connection with their Zoology study, the fourth grade visited the hospital to test it out! James says teaching children with integrated arts has been very rewarding. James has a daughter currently in the seventh grade and he enjoys attending field trips with her.
