Karen White’s Bio

E-mail Clasroom Page

My name is Karen White and I have been a member of The Lighthouse School community since (before) the first day it opened! I began my relationship with the school when I enrolled my son in 2001.

I have a BAIS in Early Elementary Education (Interdisciplinary Studies), and a MS in Education with a Literacy focus. I am a Reading Specialist and a lifelong learner.

As the kindergarten teacher, I am committed to providing children with a nurturing and developmentally sound educational foundation. I strongly believe that play is a child's most important work; it affects their academic, social, cognitive, and emotional development. I make every effort to create curriculum that incorporates hands-on experiential learning to support each child's unique learning style. By integrating more child-centered play opportunities into my classroom curriculum, I support these early childhood developmental skills while maintaining an environment of reverence where your child can grow and thrive by exploring the natural world around them.

Educating children holistically through the head, heart, and hands is The Lighthouse School's philosophy. As a teacher and parent, I am fortunate to be able to teach at a school that directly aligns with my own beliefs. Every year I look forward to continued success and new discoveries with past, present, and future students.
